"With an extensive knowledge of deep green construction, a strong aptitude to think clearly, and a talented team leader; I would highly recommend Galen as a lead on projects of all sizes and complexities."
- Lance Sparling | Wakefield Home Builders | President
The construction of homes in Canada has a huge impact on the environment. This is largely a result of inefficient practices that waste energy, water, and materials. According to Natural Resources Canada, buildings account for roughly 30% of the country's overall greenhouse gas emissions, that is 20 % higher than the green house emissions of the transportation sector.
What many people are not aware of is that green building techniques and technologies can be incorporated in to homes with little or no extra costs to home owners. Use of energy and water efficient appliances, smart design that incorporates the latest technology in conjunction with the natural environment, and simple education about efficient practices can all lead to significant reductions in environmental impact.
There are four key areas in which environmentally responsible construction practices and building use can make a significant differences:
- Water Use
- Energy Use
- Green House Gas Emissions
- Efficient Material Use
